The main change to the SIs for the 2006 season is a change in the way courses
will be displayed following feedback from members. Courses will be displayed
from the existing hoists, but IC flags will be replaced with white tiles displaying
red or green numbers / letters to display the course. Both races for classes
with multiple races scheduled will be sailed under the same SIs, removing the
need for separate instructions. You are encouraged to read the SIs in detail,
in particular SI 9.
The second change is for the cruiser class who will now race under the North
East Rating Rule (NERR). The rule works in a similar way to IRC, however it is
run by volunteers and is free to use. Steve Wood (Ichabod) has taken on the role
of club NERR measurer and has been working his way around the cruiser fleet over
the winter to ensure all the boats are measured and compliant with the rule.
No cruisers will be allowed to race in 2006 without a NERR certificate. Any queries
should be directed to Steve Wood.
The official season will start a little later than usual with the Top Dog on
Saturday 6 May, this is due to very unsociable tides on the first May bank holiday.
J24 Northern Area and Squib North of England Championships
These will be held over the weekend of 3-4 June. Hopefully we will have some
visitors in both classes to swell the numbers.
Aimee Race
The Aimee Race is provisionally scheduled for the second May bank holiday, to
Whitby and back over the weekend. Separate instructions will be issued.
Cadet Racing
Cadet racing will be held during half term on Wednesday 31 May, please contact
Adam Saltonstall for further details. We will again need sitters in and owners
to make their boats available.
Regatta Week
5-12 August. Get the week in your diary.
Dinghy Regatta
The dinghy regatta will be held again as usual over the August bank holiday.
This event is open to all dinghy classes.
